Happy Mommy Tears

Well, it has been a while since I hve updated so its a big one today. We have lots to tell :o) This picture is how we see Alex most of the time now...fist in his mouth. He started this weeks ago and we didnt think much of it. Now he is drooling like crazy, and we are thinking he is teething. Normally, I would think it is way too early, but Vickey said Marty got teeth early as well. Last week Marty noticed a "white" dot on his gum. I'm still not sure if it is a tooth that popped through or not...I know sounds strange, but it isn't one of his front 4 teeth, so it would seem strange to me that a side tooth would come in first??? Time will tell, I guess.

Well, here he is! This picture is from this morning at about 7:15 am. I just had to capture a picture of him in all his glory. He is now a little big guy! He woke up and was jabbering away next to Marty and I in bed when all of a sudden in slow motion he rolled from his tummy to his side! I was gasping, "Oh, my gosh! Is he going to roll over?" He stayed that way talking like crazy as he does when he happily wakes up every day. Then all of a sudden he completed the roll and was flat on his back! I cried...big tears I cried! I'm not sure why? There was a sense of pride there... "OUR little guy just rolled over for the first time!" or was it because I also thought, "Oh, no! He's getting too big! OUR little BABY just rolled over for the first time!" or maybe it was just the pure joy I felt knowing Marty and I both happened to be there at the perfect moment to see the big milestone! Either way, I cried big tears that dropped on his little cheek as I kissed him. Oh, how I love, love, love being a mommy!

Some bathtime fun. He is beginning to like taking baths more and more. Thank you to Tom for the super duper cute dino bathrobe and matching slippers! :o)

Isn't the hood so cute!

I adore this picture! His crazy wet hair and huge smiles! I just love the little guy!

I love his expression!

Saturday, Dec 6th was Marty's 31st birthday. He decided he wanted to go to St. Paul to the MN Ice Fishing Show. Our friends Chris and Katie came with and we had a great time! Alex was so good. I was a little nervous to see how he was going to be all day long mostly in his stroller, but he was a champ. I also learned he loves the Baby Bjorn, so now I can use that more often too! We had dinner at Bennihanas on our way back...one of our favorite places on earth to dine. I'm sure Alex's first of many trips there in his life. He was so good. He sat on my lap the entire time we ate and was just mesmorized by the chef that was grilling in front of us. I did have one of my worst mommy moments though. I took Alex to the bathroom all the way across the resturaunt to change him. On our way back I was carrying him so he was looking out over my shoulder. When I got back to our table, Marty quickly informed me that Alex had puked! I never realized it! Boy, did he puke! Because I didn't notice it, it was all over my shoulder, and he had rubbed his entire face in it...puke in his hair, on his eye lashes, all over his cheeks, everywhere. I felt so bad. People must have really wondered what I was doing as they looked at us walking back from the bathroom. Poor little guy.

Just a cute picture of Alex hugging daddy as he was sleeping. He loves that camo outfit! Well, I think all three of us do.

Just a picture of Alex being goofy. I had him nicely laying with his head resting on the boppy when he used his legs to push himself back. His head was practically upside down because he had pushed himself up so high. Silly guy.

The day after Thanksgiving I had my annual shopping trip with my mom. Because of circumstances we were left without a babysitter. Alex got to help dad with work for a few hours that morning! This is how he layed as dad got his work done!

Dad and Alex hard at work in the office.

Alex and Marty's cousin Whitney at Thanksgiving dinner! So cute!

Our smiley little guy!

Alex's Godmother Sheena playing with him on the floor at my parents house on Thanksgiving.

Godmother Sheena holding Alex on his 1st Thanksgiving! (That's my mom and Alex's cousin, Mackinzie, in the background)

Here was another one of Alex's milestones. This was his first time "reaching out" to play with toys! He loves this musical toy thingy! I was so happy to catch it on camera.

Little Alex showing off his camo bandaids from his first shots after his 2 month Dr. appt. He was a champ and did super good! It was definitely harder on Mom than it was on him!!!

Alex and mom in the Dr. office. This is the "before" shots picture. He's a happy camper. Little did I know he would cry for 10 seconds then be back to his happy camper self! Marty and I are truely blessed with a good baby.

Happy Birthday!! Alex is 2 mo. old today!!

It's tummy time!!! I'm getting so big and strong. Thank you to Debbie and Debbie for giving me this play mat.

"Dear Lord, Thank you for my mommy and daddy. I love them both so much."

I just thought this one was cute the way he is gazing up at me.

"Mom, I'm sick of tummy time!!!"

Alex loves these toys. He is starting to reach out to play with them now! Thank you to Aunt Abby and cousin Julian for giving us these.

"Peek-a-Boo! I see you!"

A complete picture of Alex in his play center. He loves it!

We were lucky enough to have a little visitor last night. I just had to get a picture of the two Alex's. Alex stopped over with Jeremy to deliver us our Christmas wreath. I thought it was cute when big Alex looked at our little Alex and said, "His face doesn't really look like mine." Big Alex was really interested in little Alex last night. He was very happy to be able to hold him. I think it's because he is waiting for his little sister to arrive any day now!

Well, 2 pm today is shot time for Alex. Let's cross our fingers for no sore legs, no crabbiness, no fever!

Anxiety

Alex is really starting to love to play with toys!

Another angle...he looks so serious

Just snuggling on dad

He loves his mobile!

Well, here it is... my anxiety is building. Tomorrow is the BIG day! Alex is 2 months old which unfortunately means it is time for the 2 month shots. UGHHH... I dread it. I'm sure it will be 100 times worse for me than it will be for him. I've had shots before, in fact I just got my flu shot a few weeks ago, but the thought of my little guy feeling any pain even a tiny bit makes me so sad. I'm going to have to mentally prepare as I walk down that hall to the dr. office. I have heard that breastfeeding immediately after the shots is soothing and comforting to the baby so I'm going to try that I think...maybe it is more soothing to me than him! It will make me feel like I'm making it all better :o) I'm sure everything will be fine...at least I will keep telling myself that until it is over.

We hit two milestones Sunday! Our little Alex is such a character...he can now officially copy you when you stick out your tongue. In fact, he thinks it is pretty funny! Of course Marty taught him that one! He also held his first object in his hand...a rattle. Granted I had to put it there, and he only held it and waved it around for like a minute. But he did it, and I was a proud mommy!

Family Fun

Alex's first trip to the St. Cloud Mall ever!

Alex snuggling with mom at the mall .

Alex with Great-Grandma Jane Martin at the mall.

My cousin Brent & Lisa's baby girl, Sage, at the bridal shower for Heidi. So sleepy....

My aunt Kay, my cousin Lynn, and my cousin-in-law Janice.

My aunt Patty holding Alex. Patty has a little Alex of her own only he isn't so little anymore!

My cousin Chad & Janice's little boy, Luke.

My cousin, Stacy, and her adorable baby girl Addison.

Alex giving me the stink eye... like "Mom, why do I have to go back in this carseat that I hate?"

It is amazing where he ends up in the crib after a nap. He started out at the other end. I still can't figure out how he moves so much at 7 weeks old. The typical missing sock after the nap! And yes, he sleeps on his tummy. (with dr. approval)

Just an adorable picture of my little Alex's big eyes. He was a happy camper when daddy came home from hunting Monday.

Really, this picture is about a week or two old, but he is wearing this same outfit today. I just love it (and him!)... my little "Stud Muffin"

What a fun weekend and start to this week Alex and I have had. Saturday was a big day. Alex and I picked up Grandma Trierweiler and we headed to St. Cloud for some shopping and relaxing with the rest of the family. Alex of course wasn't a happy camper in the car, but he was a complete angel in the mall. I didn't get a lot of shopping done, but it was fun anyway. We went over to Marty's aunt Laura's house and met up with Laura, Grant, Erin, Cindy, Jodi, Kris, Whitney, Vickey and Jane for a fun night and lots of laughs.

Sunday was also a big day! Alex and I headed to New Munich to my cousin Heidi's bridal shower. It was fun to see everyone once again. Grandma Funk came over to our house Sunday afternoon to visit for a while. Alex doesn't usually like his crib, but he has been getting so much better. He actually took a couple hour nap there Sunday night. Ever since I got approval from the doctor to let him sleep on his tummy, he has been sleeping so much better in general! (or actually sleeping, I should say!)
Yesterday, Alex and I headed to St. Cloud to visit Aunt Sheena, Aunt Dacia, and cousin Macki. It was so nice of them to babysit while I went to the dentist. I'm so glad to finally know what is wrong with my tooth, but unfortunately I need a crown :o( I'll just be happy to have it fixed so it isn't sensitive anymore. Before heading home, I just HAD to go to Byerly's to get some sushi for dinner for Marty and I! I have had massive cravings for it since Alex was born!!!
Well, my little Stud Muffin just woke up from his nap so I'm off to change yet another diaper.

Week in review

The new bigger bath tub!

Alex is looking pretty relaxed at this point. A few seconds later the screaming began!

Oh so tired! Thank you Connie Wiese for the cute new snowman hat you knitted!!! Such a cute gift.

Enough with the pictures Mom! I'm tired!!!

OH NO!!! My little guy is as long as the couch cushion now!!! He's growing too fast!

Well, we sure have had a busy week (compared to the past couple of weeks!) Tuesday, we did end up going to Alexandria. I had just enough time to return 2 items and purchase a new sweater at Herberger's before Alex started crying bloody-murder as he does. He doesn't seem to have a mild cry at any time. He goes from a slight whine to bloody-murder crying in 0 to 5 seconds. This time I was quite sure the "tooting" I heard a little earlier had something to do with it. Marty arrived to pick us up a minute later where I was able to check the diaper. Sure enough, we had a full "blow-out" on our hands. Now, a lot of moms had forewarned me about this happening at some point in my child's life... but I didn't know it could be this bad. So there we were changing the diaper, onsie, and sleeper in the back seat of the car. Every time he is in the carseat and "toots" I know I'm in trouble! Magically, he fell asleep after the diaper change. Marty and I were able to enjoy a very, very sub-par dinner at Culver's. (It was the greasiest food we have ever had, and they gave us both double burgers--and charged us--and we didn't ask for it!! ) We don't plan on going back there anytime soon, if ever!

Wednesday, was our big outing to the Dr. office. It was my turn for a follow-up visit. I'm doing just fine and everything is healing great. I brought Alex with because our Dr. loves to see him even if the appointment isn't for him. Of course, Alex did not want to cooperate. It started off good, but slowly he became fussy (he was sleepy). I ended up holding him the entire visit. Alex weights 11 lbs. 3 oz. now so he has grown a little over 2 lbs! He will go back for his 2 month visit and shots on Nov. 19th. I'm already dreading it! I'm sure it will be more traumatic for me than it is for him.

Yesterday, was rather uneventful. Marty, Alex and I made a run to Wal*Mart, Coborn's and Subway last night. Alex was a complete angel the entire time! He didn't even cry in his carseat--which he hates! It was a nice outing for all of us. It was bathtime when we got home...now that was another story! The little guy wasn't so sure of the new "bigger" tub that he will probably be in for the next year or two. I'm hoping he will get used to it the more baths he takes.

Marty left this morning to go deer hunting in Blackduck. He will be gone till Monday, so me and the little guy are on our own. This morning we went to the Post Office and bank. Alex was awesome and slept through visiting both places! All the people at the bank think Alex looks exactly like Marty! We also visited one of our best friends, Tiffany Anderson. She took the professional pictures of Alex when he was a few weeks old, and I was so excited to get the prints back! GlowPhotography is the best! They turned out amazing, and I can't wait to get them hung on the wall!

Let's give this a try!

Well I woke up this morning to a very happy and animated little Alex. It made me start thinking about how quickly he is changing. Every day he seems to become more alert and stronger. As I was doing my normal early morning email check, I came across a friends blog that I hadn't checked for quite some time. It got me thinking...maybe, just maybe, I could do it. Now, I'm not much of a writer or a speller for that matter, but I think I can manage. I think our family and friends might just enjoy seeing what we are up to all of the time. So, here we go!

Our little Alex had a great night of sleep, at least I think so! He slept 10-3, 3:30-5, 5:30-8! I slept 8 hours last night...now that's not bad. I think on the agenda for today is a trip to Alexandria for some shopping. Marty has to go for work, so I think we'll tag along. We'll see how that goes. Last time Alex cried...no screamed...three-fourths of the way there! Wish us luck!
